Joseon Gunman: Episode 1 & 2

Okay, DepEd's LIS is down. Lemme spazz about JG in the meantime. :D

ON THE EVE OF...

I don't know when this habit about raws started, but one day I just found myself watching one—followed by reading recaps... and then watching the show subbed. Heh. What a routine. It feeds my excitement though, and most of the time, helps me understand what was going on in the drama better. Yeah, better; like... seeing it in different angles or something of the sort. Err. Whatever.

On to the show.

The premiere episode for Joseon Gunman was freaking awesome. Despite not being able to understand a single thing, cinematography bridges that gap way too well—you get drawn regardless of the language barrier (or is that just the Jun Ki in me kicking in? Uh, no.). The show is pretty fast paced: we get served our dose of action and cute in just the first episode, characters get built as they are introduced, with varied strings of events revealed as of plot importance. All these without losing momentum, and I hope Joseon Gunman maintains this kind of pace 'till the end. I also love that we get to see some OTP highlights this early. Seeing Soo In in all those teasers, no matter the angle, spells out "damsel in distress" for me, and I'm happy to be proven wrong (or more like, getting there... the proven wrong point). No damsel in distress can pull a cross-dressing trick like that, and her sneaking out to be able to wander around reminds me a bit of Se Ryung... and Se Ryung was no damsel in distress. =) And Lee Jun Ki? He's as naughty as ever. That swordsmanship display he did at the giseang's house (he did take the freaking money afterwards!!!) reminded me of Ryung's (Iljimae) antics. He's still as badass in fighting as ever too, and man, that fight scene through the latter half really was orchestrated well. Can't wait for the subs to come out... and yeah, blab more about the show. Hihi.

Preview for Episode 2:

Edit 06/27/14: Finally got to watch the first two episodes subbed... and, it's official: I'm seriously loving this show. Not that I haven't loved it prior to airing—I have I have I have! :D The first episode was effective in building up what needs to be built up, and I'm loving Jun Ki being such a tease with Yoon Kang's cheeky character (though I think I'm going to love to see him out-gun his self more... since he has this tendency to be complicated—being once cheeky and guilt-ridden the next). The second episode was even better in selling the show (for me) and though the ratings have dropped from 8.4% to 8.0% nationwide, I still liked it better than the first. The cute was cute (ha), and with the way Soo In and Yoon Kang interacted with each other in the second episode, I can now see why and how their romance blossomed. I ain't a Nam Sang Mi fan (just not yet), but so far I'm also loving her portrayal as Soo In more than I cared for her as Ji Woo seven years back. Plus that cliffhanger! As I was watching the gunman point his rifle towards our leads, I kept chanting: jump jump jump! He's going to shoot you, jump! Hahahaha. Reminded me of Jang Tae San and Two Weeks. :D Next week, for sure, is so gonna be awesome!

Preview for Episode 3:

PS. I never pay attention to names, not unless it's someone I like or come to like. Korean names are hard to remember... and yeah, hard to spell. But that sister of Park Yoon Kang is the same girl who played as Yi-hwa/young Cheon Song Yi in YFAS, no? Just a random thought... if she's to die the soonest as the character descriptions say, poor her. In a way, she always die an early, painful death. :/
