Special Poem for Seo In Guk's Medical Re-assessment

I wrote this for you, forever love... We will always be cheering for you. ❤

Image via KBS News

The road is tough, it might be long
And could get awry as you go along
But worry not, we'll stick with you
You've got us, our love is true

Through the rain or through the storm
We'll stand proud, we'll stand tall
Our love for you will never die
Forever, always, we're by your side

We, your angels, will be your wings
A loyal subject to a king
So do not fret, just go on by
Struggle a little... and then fly.

Struggle a little... and then fly. ❤ Image via Asian Hana.

Special Poem for Seo In Guk's Military Enlistment

A few hours from now my favorite namja is going to leave for Korea's mandatory military enlistment.... and here I am crying af. 😭😭😭 No more Seo In Guk for less than two years for me and I feel really really sad.

I know he has released Better Together for us fans, a self-composed farewell-not-farewell gift to help us get by... but it hasn't been of any help to me just yet. It made me feel even more sad, knowing he will not be back until December of 2018. 😭😭😭 But I still am thankful that despite his impending enlistment he still thought of us. Better Together was not just a gift but a wonderful memory we'd treasure forever. It has his heart, and for that I have written something in return that has my heart as well.

Cheers, Gukkie loves. Please stay healthy. Your angels will always be here for you. We'll be missing you big time.

Seven years, five months, 19 days
We've dreaded the time you'd be leaving so soon
Wrapped up in an instant, this heartbreaking moment
The torture that is your enlistment

Yet it doesn't matter how long it would take
Be it two years, 21 months or 700 days
No matter how tough this journey may play
For your return, we will patiently wait

Because.....

You are our love, our favorite flame
Our forever love, no one else can compare
You're the awesome sunshine in our gloomiest skies
An angel and inspiration during the toughest of times

The whole lot of memories we treasure of you
The great shows and priceless music that you do
They are incomparable gems we all will hold on to
During the long wait that eventually leads to you

So.....

Do not be sad too, we will be just fine
Keep yourself healthy as you bide your time
Leave behind any worries and all other concerns
For we will just be right here, awaiting your return

And when that day comes we can show you once more
That you are our winter, spring, summer and fall
You're our love, a dream we will never forget
For inside our hearts, forever you will be kept

Amidst the Storm: A Tale of Hope and Courage

Catastrophic. Distressing. Tragic.

This was once the situation in Tacloban after super typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), one of the strongest typhoons ever recorded in history; wrecked and claimed not only thousands of homes, but also thousands of families and lives.

Cries of help linger throughout every corner of the city as people affected by the storm dwell on the last glimpse or word of a loved one who didn’t make it, all the while experiencing extreme hunger and risk to infections and diseases. One mother, for one, recalls her daughter's last words amidst the typhoon. “Ma, just let go. Save yourself." Bernadette Tenegra, in an interview with a local TV station, quoted her daughter as she was told. "I was holding her, and I kept telling her to hang on.... But she just gave up." With these accounts of homes and lives that didn’t make it through, and each tale uncovered that proved to be more heartbreaking than the last, it was indeed a time where the Filipinos were at its worst.

Yet, it was also a time when we were at our best.

We were at our best, for despite this catastrophe; we are still able to smile, full faith and trust that after the storm the sun will rise and smile back at us. Those people who experienced grief and heartbreak? They do not let the tragedy of their fate get into them. As David Guttenfelder witnessed, “People laugh and are happy, even though their lives are just destroyed. They've built basketball hoops in rubble and play pickup games, and people watch and cheer. The Filipino people have an incredible spirit and an incredible way of moving on. If it were any other place in the world, it would be so different.”

Now, a couple of months after Typhoon Haiyan churned through the Philippines, signage that once read “Please help” are now replaced with a heartfelt “Thank you”. Tacloban is slowly progressing, and though recovery effort is slow and far from over and there are still a lot needed to be fixed, Tacloban is carrying through. Amidst the devastation that once was Typhoon Haiyan, hope lives in the Filipino people’s hearts. Amidst chaos and despair, the Filipino people are not defeated.

Smiles are wider, cheers louder, for the Filipino spirit is alive among us. The Filipino spirit is waterproof.

When I'm with you, I'm always finding things.
But I'm never gonna have to find you....
Cause we're never gonna have to lose each other again.

Good night. ❤

Seven Things... And More

(dedicated to talisma chat application, Neoli Lim inspired)

I probably shouldn't say this
But at times I get so scared
When I think about the previous
Relationship we shared
It's never awesome, wish we'd lost it
'Cause it's not possible for me not to care
Now I'm sitting here alone
But nothing's ever gonna change
The way I feel, my dear

The things I really hate about you!
The things I really hate about you, oh you
You hang, you freeze, you're freaking slow
And your volume seldom gets low
You make me mad, you make me cry
I get a timeout and I always pry
You stuck up so suddenly
I think you're at your worst!
I wanna be with an app that works
And above the things I hate the most about you
Well... I never liked you.

It's awkward and it's silent
As I wait for you to work
What I need to see now
Is your sincere apology
Error messages, I'll believe it
If you'll spellcheck, I'll delete it
Let's be clear
How I wish you'd break down
And never get back fixed, dear

The things I really hate about you!
The things I really hate about you, oh you
You hang, you freeze, you're freaking slow
And your volume seldom gets low
You make me mad, you make me cry
I get a timeout and I always pry
You stuck up so suddenly
I think you're at your worst!
I wanna be with an app that works
And above the things I hate the most about you
Well... I never liked you.

And of all these wrong things
Which took too long to write
I probably should mention the things I still don't like
The things I don't like about you!
Your buttons, your icons, your service line
When it queues you're crystallized
You make me mad, you make me cry
And it gets annoying to try and try
My hands get tired to simply retype
This is never right!
I wanna be with an app that works
And above the things I just don't like about you
Well... I never liked you.

That's true.

PS. Baka mapagalitan ako.. Magkatrabaho pa kaya ako nito? Hehe. I was just kidding boss! Have a great shift to me. =)

Just Another Story

Got the idea from Felmc's shoutout. Cheers buddy! :)

------------------

She lost.
She hoped.
But then she lost again.
Never once did she believe it was just another story.
Never once did she believe it was too good to be true.
Never once. Never once.
Until it was too late.

They had known each other for quite sometime now, and it would be an understatement to say that they hadn't been friends. But... could they really consider each other as friends? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, she was happy.

It had always been her dream to peek inside his heart, and her dreams took a step closer to reality when he sent her a message asking for her number. She gave it; of course, it was a chance she need not miss.

They started to share a couple of conversations since then. They exchanged a few jokes too, and whatnots. Everyday it was like this. Everyday. And she began to fall even deeper.

Her feelings then grew more and more intense as the days passed by. Finally, it reached its zenith when he once agreed to attend a concert with her; and gave her this cute little drawing with scribbled words that made her heart skip a beat.

But… things don't always seem as good as they are; for suddenly, he stopped sending her messages. Suddenly, he stopped making her dreams come true. All of a sudden, he changed. And for what reason, she didn't know.

Probably he was just busy. Probably he doesn't want to be disturbed. Probably, she thought. So she decided to wait. And wait, she did. But he didn’t show up. He never showed up. Never.

And just like that, he was gone.

She lost again, indeed.
She didn't want to give up just yet but it was entirely useless.
She lost.
She should have believed it was just another story.
She should have believed it was too good to be true.
She should have. She should have.
Now it was too late.

Acquainted

From your hair to your eyes to your brightest of smile
Your laugh, your jokes and your tendency to nag
I so believed your heart was as mine
Like that of a melody and harmony in love

Acquainted, that's how we have been
I've seen a miracle the first time we met
I fell in love right at the beginning
And loved you still at the very end

When I pass by you my heart flutters
I'd smile kindly then would seemingly look down
When our eyes meet my confidence wavers
And the words I thought of just won't come

Acquainted, that's what we are now
Yet you understood... and believed, didn't you?
The words haven't told and the words that have
It always made my love be born anew

So...

If these feelings are a gift to me
A star that shines in the dim of the night
I'd gladly keep it in my heart, in here
Locked forever in looping time

But...

Acquainted, that's how we'll ever be
A friend that cares, shares and goes on
This love is probably nothing but a dream
Where forever is played only in a song

A Break-Up Letter

I hope you wouldn't mind if I say that I'm finally letting go of you and my love. It has been more than a year now and for that extensive amount of time, you couldn't say that I haven't been faithful. I was... and have always been. See, no matter how I convince myself to give up on you and just forget about everything, I always end up coming back to you. But... this time's different. Really, it's time to move on. It's time to let go and give up on you for real. It isn't easy, and wouldn't be easy. You're probably thinking that this is just so ridiculous and that you never ordered me to hold on that long for such an unrequited love. Ha, true indeed. But don't worry, it's okay. I'm okay; and would definitely get off of this thing in no time at all. Yet still, you should probably know that the days I spent holding on to this feeling, dreaming and hoping, were one of the best (if not totally the best) that I ever had. It’s just that, I couldn't be stuck in this state forever. I couldn't just wait. And wait. And wait... and wait a lifetime more knowing that had you loved me back, I wouldn't have had to wait.

So there. This isn't goodbye yet, yes? Or is it? Either way, I'd always be thankful for that one chance encounter to have met you. The way you killed me with one smile and how you brought me to life again with another would always be one of the fondest memories I will remember about you. You will forever be here, once treasured but never forgotten.

Untangled

Disclaimer: I do not own Shaman King (or the song Sanctuary). If I did, this should have been part of the anime and the manga! But have you seen this yet? Nah. Everything here (except the plot, of course) is just being borrowed for writing purposes. No money or profit is being sought or made, so my humblest gratitude for not suing. :)

~*~

Breathtaking. That's how everything was that day. The warmth of the golden sun magnificently spread around the place, sending the first of its rays beyond mountains and hills. Breezes of the gentle wind made fields of wheat dance in a swaying motion as birds started to chirp in harmonious melody. It used to be a fine morning... until a certain blonde's scream disturbed everything within 30-mile radius.

"ASAKURA YOH!!!"

The girl yelled as she heavily stomped her feet towards the dining area where a certain brunette was busy arranging their supposed to be breakfast.

"ASAKURA! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?"

The boy being asked took a break from what he was doing and stared at his fiancee, as if sending venomous glares that would instantly freeze anyone who caught sight of it, like that of Medusa's.

'Will you stop yelling already? You want me to end up deaf?!' He thought to himself, but didn't have the guts to say it out loud. He was actually tired of her bossing him around, and he had always, always wanted to rant, retaliate and yell back; but he couldn't. He wouldn't. Not at this time of the day, nor with Anna. A furious Anna, for that matter. Sigh. "Good morning," he said instead. "Take your seat, breakfast is almost ready." he continued as he plastered a sheepish (or should I say plastic) smile.

SLAP.

"Aw, what was that for?"

ANOTHER SLAP.

"Hey, just what did I-" Yoh didn't even get to finish his question as the answer already smacked him right in the face.

A pink, bright, well-decorated envelope.

Yoh's eyes started to bulge bigger than that of a tennis ball it's now in the danger of disappearing into his eye sockets. "Anna, how... that... I..." he began to stutter. 'Damn it, why couldn't I organize anything good to spill out?' His mind now went from hysterical to blank. Doomed. That's what he concluded. And just as he was to imagine himself being murdered by Anna's wrath, something caught his attention.

A sound.

A faint one. Then it grew louder. And louder. And louder.

"How sob dare you sob cheat sob on me!"

He shifted his gaze towards the owner of the voice, then, suddenly felt his jaw drop straight onto the floor. He couldn't believe it. She was...

...crying.

x.x.x.x.x

How dare you cheat on me.

I hate you Asakura.

You're so gonna be sorry for this.

'GAH, I can't take this anymore!!' Yoh mentally shouted as thoughts of Anna began flooding that cob-infested brain of his. He had been swimming in his own thoughts for about an hour now, and it seems that he still has no intention of hitting back into reality.

RING!!!

"Yoh," a short boy called as he went nearer and nearer the brunette's desk.

No response.

"Yoh," he repeated.

Still no response.

"YOH!!!"

"YaaAaggHhh! What?"

"Do you really dream with your eyes open? It’s time for lunch."

"Oh."

"Anything wrong?" the shorter one suddenly asked with very much concern.

"Nothing.” the brunette took a deep breath and shrugged. “I'm sorry Manta, but I won't be having lunch with you today."

"Huh? But-" Manta was cut off as Yoh hastily walked past him and headed towards the door. "...but that's not healthy, Yoh. Just what are you up to now?" he sighed.

x.x.x.x.x

”Tch.” Anna said in a rather exasperating tone as she followed Yoh's swift movements through the corner of her eye. “How pathetic. Leaving his best friend just to be with a slutty whore.” (Mean Anna, mean!!) She let out a sigh and continued to stare at the door where Yoh had been just minutes ago. 'And he didn't even glance at me...' she bitterly thought.

Yup, you read that right. That's how Anna's thoughts had been like throughout the rest of the period. Bitter. Deep. And ebbing far far away. She hadn't eaten her lunch, and probably hadn't even noticed it at all. She hadn't talked to anyone else too, and just headed straight to the classroom a couple of minutes before it was actually time. There she sat feeling uneasy, tossed here and there, stood up, and then leaned on the wall next to the door.

Tick.

'Three.'

Tick.

'Two.'

Tick.

'One.'

She counted. And counted. And counted. Her brows were now furrowed, eyes were closed and arms were crossed with her feet tapped on the floor in a rather annoying fashion, as if following the ticking sound that the clock constantly makes.

"Aaaarrgh!!" she angrily shouted, making her the center of attraction in an instant. But as usual, she didn't bother. She just shrugged the commotion off and threw death glares that cowered her classmates, followed by an ice cold "What?"

Then seconds later, the bell rang...

...and the King of all the tardy Kings arrived.

But the sad part was, he didn't give a damn. He entered the room without even throwing a glance to anyone present there, including Anna. He just sat on his desk calmly, gazed outside the window, and started to drift off to dreamland.

x.x.x.x.x

"The hell with that boy." Anna hissed soon as she arrived home. Her precious fiance had certainly been distant during the whole day, and it only made her feel more disturbed rather than glad. "Makes me wanna beat him to death."

Beat... him? To death? That did it. Anna really was mad. So in order to release herself from too much tension and the thought of killing Yoh, she decided to take a bath. But just as she was about to leave the room, she caught sight of something.

A tape.

It had a note with it that read: listen to me.

Due to some unexplainable force, she unconsciously lifted the object and hit play.

I know I can never be enough, but I'll always be here
I know that my words are simple and shallow, but I mean everything I say and do

"What the-"

I know I don't have a diamond ring to put on your finger
But I will see to it that we will always be together

"How did he..."

And I, thank you from the bottom of my heart because...

"...manage to get this here..."

You are my light
You are my home
You are my sanctuary

"..before I did?"

You are my peace
You give me hope
You are my sanctuary

Okay, so Anna really have had enough of all the drama today. She was about to shut the player up when a voice all too familiar stopped her midway.

"Yoh?"

She waited for the owner of the voice to show himself but was dumbfounded when she finally realized that the voice was actually coming from the tape.

I know we've been through a lot today, and it really wasn't easy. Especially for you. But you should've known better that I couldn't do such a thing to you. No, scratch that. I wouldn't do such a thing to you. You see, the letter you found earlier this morning was actually for Ren, not me. A Mariko girl from class B asked me to hand it over to him as she said that she was too shy to do it herself; but I guess you somehow got it all wrong... That's why I'm saying this to you now. I'm sorry, Anna. Will you still forgive me?

A lone tear escaped Anna's eyes soon as the last of Yoh's recorded words were said. Realization hit her hard and she didn't have to be like a superhero of some sort to be able to dash hastily outside. There she found him, doing push-ups under the heat of the blazing sun. He must've noticed her presence as he suddenly shifted his gaze towards her direction, and...

...smiled.

She let out a smile too. Rare... yet vibrant. Radiant.

"I love you."

She didn't say it.

Neither did he.

But they both understood.

A/N: Okay, so that was rather cheesy... and long. But I'm actually proud of it because even though it had been pending on my pc for five days now, it still didn't suffer the same fate as my other fic did. Talk about writer's block. -_- Now going back, I never really thought that Yoh could be just as romantic... And Anna seemed to be a bit (or very much, if you would like to say so) out of character too. It may be disturbing to see her cry and do so much un-Anna stuffs, but... hah! There had always been hints of her being so overly possessive of Yoh, right? Say for instance, the oracle bell scene. This just shows that despite the icy facade our dear itako always wears, and how much she bosses him around, she DOES care deep inside. And that's what I like most about her. (gah, am I being too obvious that I like Anna so much?) :3 And besides, this is MY fic so I get to do whatever I want here, or to anyone else, for that matter. Bwahahahahahahahah! *chokes* Okay, so I was joking...

She

She used to have a smile so radiant and gay
But look at her now, words are locked away
She’s living in that pitch-black corner of the room
Hiding in shadows and covered by gloom

She, he says, was of no worth at all
A trash, a waste, no need to ponder on
And if words could only bring people to death
She could have been one of them in effect

Yet the wounds and the scars she seemed not to mind,
She’s so sewn together but really broken up inside
And smile, she still did, to hide her deepest pain
But her smile was so empty to watch her is vain

Is It In You?

There is no better exercise for the heart than reaching down and lifting someone up.

Last meeting our professor had showed us a video clip—a documentary entitled “Basurero” created by Jay Taruc, an I-Witness remarkable reporter. The gist of the story was about one of the basic problems in urban areas today, garbage.

The case which wraps the top half of the story was about a family of mambabatchoys (those who feed on leftovers) living in an overpass in Cubao. Day by day their routine would be to look for food in the trash (usually of fast food restaurants) and re-cook it; or eat it on the spot just to get through the hazards of living life. Whether rotten or spoiled, they don’t mind. For hungry beings like them, food poisoning is not a catch.

On the other hand, the bottom half of the story unravels yet another side of the garbage dilemma—the scavengers. These are people who spend long tiring hours in the dumpsite looking for a basketful of plastic bottles and cans which they could barter for money. Sounds easy? NOT. Truth is, this case may even be more horrible than those of the mambabatchoys as more and more lives are at risk from being hit or ran-over by bulldozers and trucks.

Now these situations are just among those that the Philippines have been experiencing for the past years. Indeed, the lives of many Filipinos are getting worse as time passes by. Everybody blames everybody else—the rich, the poor, the government, even GOD! They know it’s a ruthless way of life, but what else can they do? It’s the only thing they could do to survive. But…have they ever given a thought of what else can other people do? Or what else do they do? No, because they’re probably too fed up with themselves or content inside their boxes of comfort to even try and think about just anything else.

No matter how corrupt or worse the government may be, still it is always there to help. To offer jobs and support free public education. There is always room for hope and the people. After all, this is what the government is truly all about. However, everything wouldn’t work by merely the government taking action alone. The people must also do their fair share of task. Break out of the box! Study, reach out and strive hard to survive. Everything should be a two-way process.

All in all, problems constantly repeat its self not for the people to suffer, but for them to open up and learn. If only they knew how to take time and listen, how to reach out and help, how to reflect and look within, everything would’ve gradually fallen unto its place. It is only we who holds the key to change, because no one else knows what’s best for us than we do ourselves. It just takes time, patience, courage, virtue. Now tell me, is it in you?

Letter To A Hero

Dear Dr. Rizal,

Greetings of peace!

Last meeting, July 31, 2007 we have been asked to view a film entitled “Bayaning Third World” (Third World Hero) which talks about your life, and the controversial issue of your retraction. Honestly speaking, I myself have been intrigued by this issue that’s why I’m here, writing you this letter.

It has been clear to me that there have been polarized reactions between those who accept the documents as genuine and those who believe that a religious political conspiracy fabricated the story and forged your penmanship.

Historical documents as well as events prove to speak for themselves—which says that you really have had, retracted. Father Balaguer claimed you did so because the retraction document, said he, had been received by him the evening preceding your execution. However, Father Balaguer himself was not able to distinguish if it’s genuine or just an imitation. Josephine Bracken also claimed the same thing indirectly by saying that there had been a marriage between the two of you. However, Josephine could never produce a certificate of it, in spite of being required to do so.

These alone make your retraction issue a lot more controversial. I mean, if you really have had retracted, how come no one could show where the original copy of it is? Come to think of it, according to many, neither the Archbishop nor Father Pi really saw it. Could it be that what they saw was just a copy done by one who could imitate your handwriting while some friars kept the original?

Just the same, if you really have had retracted how come the highly enlarged photo of your execution shows you without a rosary in your hand? And why had the death sentence for you still carried out? Why was your remains just bundled off in a dirty old sack, as they say, and then just dumped into a hole in the ground outside Paco Cemetery? Was this the proper way to bury historic Catholics who died in an exemplary repentant way?

You see Dr. Rizal, this is really just very intriguing. Have you really changed your mind and turned about the masonry, enunciating all of your writings and repenting to the authority of the Catholic Church; thus giving up your noble honor so?

I wish you could really give us some clue about how we could solve this intriguing puzzle. Because to me, it would be really hard to believe that the retraction document was written by your own colonially pierced hands.

Yours Truly,
Sette

An Epistolary

It has been a long time since I last saw your smile. Could it be because you're still drowning on your self-infatuated misery? Do you still believe in what other people say about you? That you're exactly a fraud and more than a failure? That in this beautiful surrounding you are hideous, a spider among perfect things?

Well, I guess it’s time for you to wake up and come into consciousness. Stop being inadequately passive! Avoid imagining almost anything except action; some way out of your own despair. Cause you know, what people say about you is only what they see on the outside of you.

It’s like a line from the book Mister God This Is Anna. “The sun is nice, but it lights things up so much that you can’t see very far. Your soul doesn’t go very far in the daylight because it stops where you can see. The nighttime is better. It stretches your soul right out the stars. And that, is a very long way. In the nighttime you don’t have to stop going  out. It’s like your ears. In the daytime it’s so noisy you can’t hear. In the nighttime you can. The nighttime stretches you.”

Putting it this way, what people say about you is only what they see on the daytime, on the outside of you. The truth is, they still don’t know you well, because they hadn’t gone deeper yet. So, in order for them to see whom the real you are, they have to stretch into the night time and look on the inside of you.

Thus, you must always remember not to let anyone rob you of your right to be complete.
God said ‘I am’ and that’s what He wants us all to say. Wherever you go take your whole self with you; you don’t leave bits lying around to get stamped on; you’re all of a piece; and you’re what God wants you to be.

Live Life To The Fullest

There is always a dawn on the horizon and there’s no need to worry. Yep, that’s right. Most of us live as if there is going to be a tomorrow — a tomorrow to fix things, to care for, to do things, to cherish, to love, to give, to say and to do those great things we dream of.

It seems to most of us that there is always time and there is no need to be in any hurry. We think the sun will always rise, and we can always look and plan and hope for a better future ahead.

Well, this is good, except that most of the time we are not prepared if things fall apart. We seem to expect things to stay the same. Sometimes we are so certain of ourselves that we fail to accept the bumps in our lives.

Not all people succeed. It is an accepted reality. But even if it is the case, man shouldn’t stop from striving to achieve his full potentials and desire to improve his future life.

Therefore, what man needs to do is to draw out what’s best in him. He must learn how to live life to the fullest, and make use of it. After all, there is always a final dawn on the horizon and there’s no need to worry. But sooner or later, this final dawn comes when you least expect it.

The Portrait of a Pot Maker

There was once a pot maker busily molding a lump of clay. He spent long tiring hours molding it when all of a sudden he smashed it. An observer, amazed with what he did curiously asked why. The pot maker replied: “There was something wrong with it. It didn’t turn out perfect.” Then he went back to work.

In our world today, there are also these pot makers trying to mold every little piece of our personality into perfect shapes. They work untiringly to help us develop our skills and learn from our successes and mistakes.

However, these two pot makers we referred to quite differ from each other. And that’s in a great sense.

While one smashes his pot if something is wrong with it, the other does not. He does just the opposite. Instead of smashing his work, he tries to mold it even better. He tries to mold us, till we get into perfect shapes.

Yes, this second type of pot makers never get tired of working; they persistently guide us and teach us all there is to know about life.

They lead us to the right path we have to take and educate us. They feed our minds and give us strength to go on. They serve as frames that support us every time we feel frail and weak. They shelter us, welcome us, and care for us. They treat us like very priceless possessions—with utmost care and supervision.

Undoubtedly, these people we have been talking about are none other than our very dear teachers. They are the heroes of our world. They are the workers, the pot makers. They guide us and mold us, hoping that someday, somehow, we may become their sturdy pots.
