Disclaimer: I do not own Shaman King (or the song Sanctuary). If I did, this should have been part of the anime and the manga! But have you seen this yet? Nah. Everything here (except the plot, of course) is just being borrowed for writing purposes. No money or profit is being sought or made, so my humblest gratitude for not suing. :)

Breathtaking. That's how everything was that day. The warmth of the golden sun magnificently spread around the place, sending the first of its rays beyond mountains and hills. Breezes of the gentle wind made fields of wheat dance in a swaying motion as birds started to chirp in harmonious melody. It used to be a fine morning... until a certain blonde's scream disturbed everything within 30-mile radius.
"ASAKURA YOH!!!"
The girl yelled as she heavily stomped her feet towards the dining area where a certain brunette was busy arranging their supposed to be breakfast.
"ASAKURA! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?"
The boy being asked took a break from what he was doing and stared at his fiancee, as if sending venomous glares that would instantly freeze anyone who caught sight of it, like that of Medusa's.
'Will you stop yelling already? You want me to end up deaf?!' He thought to himself, but didn't have the guts to say it out loud. He was actually tired of her bossing him around, and he had always, always wanted to rant, retaliate and yell back; but he couldn't. He wouldn't. Not at this time of the day, nor with Anna. A furious Anna, for that matter. Sigh. "Good morning," he said instead. "Take your seat, breakfast is almost ready." he continued as he plastered a sheepish (or should I say plastic) smile.
SLAP.
"Aw, what was that for?"
ANOTHER SLAP.
"Hey, just what did I-" Yoh didn't even get to finish his question as the answer already smacked him right in the face.
A pink, bright, well-decorated envelope.
Yoh's eyes started to bulge bigger than that of a tennis ball it's now in the danger of disappearing into his eye sockets. "Anna, how... that... I..." he began to stutter. 'Damn it, why couldn't I organize anything good to spill out?' His mind now went from hysterical to blank. Doomed. That's what he concluded. And just as he was to imagine himself being murdered by Anna's wrath, something caught his attention.
A sound.
A faint one. Then it grew louder. And louder. And louder.
"How sob dare you sob cheat sob on me!"
He shifted his gaze towards the owner of the voice, then, suddenly felt his jaw drop straight onto the floor. He couldn't believe it. She was...
...crying.
x.x.x.x.x
How dare you cheat on me.
I hate you Asakura.
You're so gonna be sorry for this.
'GAH, I can't take this anymore!!' Yoh mentally shouted as thoughts of Anna began flooding that cob-infested brain of his. He had been swimming in his own thoughts for about an hour now, and it seems that he still has no intention of hitting back into reality.
RING!!!
"Yoh," a short boy called as he went nearer and nearer the brunette's desk.
No response.
"Yoh," he repeated.
Still no response.
"YOH!!!"
"YaaAaggHhh! What?"
"Do you really dream with your eyes open? It’s time for lunch."
"Oh."
"Anything wrong?" the shorter one suddenly asked with very much concern.
"Nothing.” the brunette took a deep breath and shrugged. “I'm sorry Manta, but I won't be having lunch with you today."
"Huh? But-" Manta was cut off as Yoh hastily walked past him and headed towards the door. "...but that's not healthy, Yoh. Just what are you up to now?" he sighed.

”Tch.” Anna said in a rather exasperating tone as she followed Yoh's swift movements through the corner of her eye. “How pathetic. Leaving his best friend just to be with a slutty whore.” (Mean Anna, mean!!) She let out a sigh and continued to stare at the door where Yoh had been just minutes ago. 'And he didn't even glance at me...' she bitterly thought.
Yup, you read that right. That's how Anna's thoughts had been like throughout the rest of the period. Bitter. Deep. And ebbing far far away. She hadn't eaten her lunch, and probably hadn't even noticed it at all. She hadn't talked to anyone else too, and just headed straight to the classroom a couple of minutes before it was actually time. There she sat feeling uneasy, tossed here and there, stood up, and then leaned on the wall next to the door.
Tick.
'Three.'
Tick.
'Two.'
Tick.
'One.'
She counted. And counted. And counted. Her brows were now furrowed, eyes were closed and arms were crossed with her feet tapped on the floor in a rather annoying fashion, as if following the ticking sound that the clock constantly makes.
"Aaaarrgh!!" she angrily shouted, making her the center of attraction in an instant. But as usual, she didn't bother. She just shrugged the commotion off and threw death glares that cowered her classmates, followed by an ice cold "What?"
Then seconds later, the bell rang...
...and the King of all the tardy Kings arrived.
But the sad part was, he didn't give a damn. He entered the room without even throwing a glance to anyone present there, including Anna. He just sat on his desk calmly, gazed outside the window, and started to drift off to dreamland.

"The hell with that boy." Anna hissed soon as she arrived home. Her precious fiance had certainly been distant during the whole day, and it only made her feel more disturbed rather than glad. "Makes me wanna beat him to death."
Beat... him? To death? That did it. Anna really was mad. So in order to release herself from too much tension and the thought of killing Yoh, she decided to take a bath. But just as she was about to leave the room, she caught sight of something.
A tape.
It had a note with it that read: listen to me.
Due to some unexplainable force, she unconsciously lifted the object and hit play.
I know I can never be enough, but I'll always be here
I know that my words are simple and shallow, but I mean everything I say and do
"What the-"
I know I don't have a diamond ring to put on your finger
But I will see to it that we will always be together
"How did he..."
And I, thank you from the bottom of my heart because...
"...manage to get this here..."
You are my light
You are my home
You are my sanctuary
"..before I did?"
You are my peace
You give me hope
You are my sanctuary
Okay, so Anna really have had enough of all the drama today. She was about to shut the player up when a voice all too familiar stopped her midway.
"Yoh?"
She waited for the owner of the voice to show himself but was dumbfounded when she finally realized that the voice was actually coming from the tape.
I know we've been through a lot today, and it really wasn't easy. Especially for you. But you should've known better that I couldn't do such a thing to you. No, scratch that. I wouldn't do such a thing to you. You see, the letter you found earlier this morning was actually for Ren, not me. A Mariko girl from class B asked me to hand it over to him as she said that she was too shy to do it herself; but I guess you somehow got it all wrong... That's why I'm saying this to you now. I'm sorry, Anna. Will you still forgive me?
A lone tear escaped Anna's eyes soon as the last of Yoh's recorded words were said. Realization hit her hard and she didn't have to be like a superhero of some sort to be able to dash hastily outside. There she found him, doing push-ups under the heat of the blazing sun. He must've noticed her presence as he suddenly shifted his gaze towards her direction, and...
...smiled.
She let out a smile too. Rare... yet vibrant. Radiant.
"I love you."
She didn't say it.
Neither did he.
But they both understood.

A/N: Okay, so that was rather cheesy... and long. But I'm actually proud of it because even though it had been pending on my pc for five days now, it still didn't suffer the same fate as my other fic did. Talk about writer's block. -_- Now going back, I never really thought that Yoh could be just as romantic... And Anna seemed to be a bit (or very much, if you would like to say so) out of character too. It may be disturbing to see her cry and do so much un-Anna stuffs, but... hah! There had always been hints of her being so overly possessive of Yoh, right? Say for instance, the oracle bell scene. This just shows that despite the icy facade our dear itako always wears, and how much she bosses him around, she DOES care deep inside. And that's what I like most about her. (gah, am I being too obvious that I like Anna so much?) :3 And besides, this is MY fic so I get to do whatever I want here, or to anyone else, for that matter. Bwahahahahahahahah! *chokes* Okay, so I was joking...
