Sharing the Gift of Love this Christmas: Angel Project 2016

It's not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.

So goes a line by Mother Theresa. In this world we live in, we are often bound by financial means. But while at it, it's important to remember that it is mot just the gift but the thought and love that counts. We give not just because we have more, but because it is what our entire heart wants. We give because it is love that counts.

Thus, in this season of giving, SIG Angels has launched Angel Project 2016: an annual Christmas project by Seo In Guk's fans around the globe dedicated to him and all those who are in need, be it cancer patient kids or the like.

For 2016, SIG Angels initially planned to conduct a charity event either in a place that houses abandoned kids or the Philippine Children's Medical Center for cancer patient kids. Due to budget constraints we went with the latter, but upped the beneficiaries to 30 cancer patient kids compared to last year's 20.

Same as last year, the angels agreed to meet somewhere at Eton Centris to allow ample time to get to know each other, headed by Angel admin Jaja. Angel admins Kate and Joan, on the other hand, proceeded directly to the hospital as they had luggages they had to attend to and it would be quite a hassle to travel here and there.

Upon arriving at the hospital, shirts to be worn throughout the event were then distributed, followed by a short briefing of what to do and what to bring. There were quite a few new faces so in order to make everyone feel a little more comfortable, each were asked to share how they came to know about In Guk and what their favorites are about him.

As soon as everything was set, the angels were then deployed to their ward assignments. Same as last year, there were all kinds of patients in each ward: ranging from young ones to a few who were a little above young. To put a smile on their faces, loot bags were given for the kids which include toys, coloring books, story books, and a few snacks. We've heard that milk was good for them so we also handed Bingrae's famous flavored milk with a cute little Seo In Guk sticker on it.

Aside from the goodies the parents were given vouchers as well, which they'd then surrender in exchange of money they could use for blood transfusion or medical bills. Each voucher costs P1500, funds of which were from the donations we were able to collect from generous angels all over the globe.

Since there were still a few goodies left, we visited other wards as well and gave away the excess gifts that we have. The little warriors were super happy, and we were happy too.

After the charity proper comes the highlight for the attendees: the much awaited photo op for the fandom. Despite being heartbroken from what we have seen the previous hour, angels happily posed before the project tarpaulin. We stood, we sat, and even laid on the floor beside In Guk.

And of course, a successful project calls for a celebration... so there we went again, at our favorite place in Timog, for a very late lunch and further chit chat about our number one namja. And yes, freebiees!!! Thanks a bunch Ate Kate!

Indeed, Christmas is a time of joy. It is a time of giving, sharing and showing love to one another. The smile that graced our little warriors' faces through Angel Project 2016 is a beautiful reminder of that: a reminder for us to always choose to give, share and love... no matter what life throws at us.

That being said, thank you very much for all the support, our lovely angels. 'Til our next project!

Merry Christmas!
