My heart aches so much for Hwa-gun... 💔
I didn't really expected her character to die, let alone be killed by her very own grandfather who seemed to have favored her more than her father. But yeah, this was probably among the reasons as to why her death hurts all the more.
Honestly speaking, she was among my least favorite characters early on in the show. It felt like she was too focused on loving the crown prince that she's forgotten about everything else, but as of this writing, she might be at least among my most favorite second leads of all time. I admire her bravery, she's definitely a strong character to give up her life selflessly like that just to make sure that Sun was safe.
But what I admire the most about Hwa-gun was how pro-active and intelligent she was, even if that meant something only when Sun is around. Needless to say she was constantly a very big help to Sun, probably even more useful than Ga-eun is when she's supposed to be the main lead. 😒 And even if her death was surprising and sudden, it might have been needed to stir Dae-mok a little bit... as well as finally put Sun into action.
Hwa-gun: "I was happy because I met you. That is enough, your highness." |
With this, I fervently hope that Sun will always remember Hwa-gun for her sacrifices and her selfless love. That's the least he could do for her.
And oh, special shout-out to Gon who promised to obey Hwa-gun's command of protecting the crown prince for as long as he lives. Talk about devotion and loyalty.
