Review: August Rush (2007)

You know what music is? God’s little reminder that there’s something else besides us in this universe; harmonic connection between all living beings, everywhere, even the stars.

Meet Evan Taylor, a homeless young boy who has an inexplicably amazing gift in music. He had always wanted to meet his parents ever since he arrived at the orphanage, and he wanted to believe that his passion for music will eventually help him in fulfilling this journey.

SYNOPSIS
Being born from Lyla Novacek and Louis Connelly who are both amazingly inclined with music, Evan learned of one special gift that he uniquely possessed—gift in music. He then sets for New York from which he met various people who helped him in honing the special gift that he has. Maxwell “Wizard” Wallace, who was amazed by Evan’s performance, decided to keep the young boy knowing that he was worth numerous bucks of money.

However, Evan wasn’t satisfied with his stay with Wizard. After the cop’s broke in on the place the place they were living, Evan chose to run away. He then found his sanctuary on a church under the supervision of Counselor Richard Jeffries, who, knowing that he was a musical prodigy sent him to a school where he could grow and further develop until he was able to meet his parents through music.

REVIEW
As the movie progresses, we saw how Evan (relatively known as August Rush) dealt with the ups and downs of being musically gifted and learned in his own way how to develop and nourish the special gift that he possessed.

Though the movie moved in a roughly fast paced motion with an ending that made the viewers keep on asking for more, still, it was able to present the gist of the story comprehensively. Furthermore, it showed the viewers how to value even the simplest of things that almost always make them happy.

With the remarkable performance of Freddie Highmore as Evan Taylor, August Rush is all in all one heck of a movie as it will surely draw you into never letting go. Insights steal into the viewers’ mind the same way Evan steals into the viewers’ heart.

The music is all around you; all you have to do is listen.
