Enter Nina Sakura, a not-so-bright-but-very-cute-kidwitch from a magical kingdom. She was sent to the human world to look for the holy stones—stones that would help her to further enhance her magical abilities and make her a princess for good. But what’s this?! Looks like instead of finding the holy stones what she found was Ayu Tateishi; a girl who persistently tries to avoid her magic at all cost. So what happens next? Will Nina be able to fulfill her task and be the next princess, or will everything end up in a mess?

Ultra Maniac is a 26-episode anime series based on the manga by Wataru Yoshizumi and was animated by Ashi Productions. Its story pictures out the basic idea of true friendship that was remarkably presented in a deep yet light-hearted way, thus giving the series a fresh and relaxing twist.

One distinctive thing about this anime is its artwork. Character designs were pretty much well drawn and the colors used all through out were lushly vibrant and eye pleasing. Its animation was also done fluidly and well conveyed, and makes up for such a wonderful effect on the series.

On the other hand, the music used for Ultra Maniac is also worth checking out too. Its opening song “Kagami no Naka” depicts the light-hearted side of the anime, while the closing song “Hitotsu=Unmei Kyoudoutai” depicts its depth (that's not so deep).

In short, Ultra Maniac is indeed an anime of magic, fantasy and romantic comedy all in one beautiful blend. Although some may find it a bit childish and cutesy, still to see is to believe. Try watching it and judge it for yourself. I assure you, it won’t be disappointing.
